White Christmas

Well, It was definitely a WHITE christmas!

We spent most of the day just us 3, lounging around, reading the christmas story, having a big breakfast, opening presents, and playing with our presents :)  I even snuck in a nap!!

Then, around dinner time we headed to my parents house for more presents and WONDERFUL food! :)

We got so many nice things, and are very blessed beyond measure.

sad day number 2.

Why?

Owen climbed out of his crib this morning.  Mark and I were awoken around 6 am to a loud THUD and then crying...we sprung out of bed, ran up the stairs, opened owen's door, and there he was to greet us.

This means several things:

1.  This baby is no baby anymore..
2.  Time for a big boy bed... (again, rubs it in that he's not my little baby)
3.  Containment is no more.  No more putting him in his crib with toys for 30 minutes so i can rest.


Keep throwing loops at me life!  man oh man.

sad day.

Today is a sad day.  Why??  Today Owen lied intentionally for the first time. :(  So sad to think that he really is becoming his own boy with his own thoughts and choices.

Earlier today, Owen looked at me, pointed to his back side, and said, "poop mama." I was surprised!  "What?? Owen you pooped?? Good job for telling me!"  He smiled..and sure enough, I could smell what he was speaking of.  So I said, "Okay, let's change your diaper since you pooped."  (If you know Owen, you know he doesn't like getting his pants changed.)  So he starts running around and crying...quite annoying.  So I say again, "Owen...didn't you poop?"  And he looked right at me, gave me a silly smile and said "no mama..."

LIE!  He totally lied to get out of a diaper change! I couldn't believe it!  My world is certainly changing!!

How could this innocent face lie to his mama??

...good question!   We'll have to ask him...

as for now, i mine as well have a car-driving, girl-kissing, trouble causing, teenager!!!

Quick Story.

So, we've had our christmas tree up for weeks.  At first, i was dreading constantly asking Owen to stop touching it and to stop pulling ornaments off, but to my pleasant surprise,  he didn't really bother any of that too much.

So, as much as I had been LONGING to put presents under the tree, i figure I better not test my luck.  I had all these awesome looking presents wrapped and stacked in the dining room, which he rarely enters.  Well, a few days ago, I could stand it no longer, I wanted them under the tree, so that's where I put them!  Again, to my pleasant surprise, Owen didn't really care!  Do I have the most perfect child or what??

SO, yesterday, Crystal brings Owen a present.  We are all sitting around encouraging him to tear into it!  It took a minute, but finally, he was ripping it open and LOVING it!  (This year is exciting because he actually GETS that concept.)  About 3 hours later, much to my Unpleasant surprise,  owen is also ripping into the presents under the tree...the ones that are NOT for him.

oh joy.  time to re-wrap.

I've been on a roll with blogging lately....

Tonight we put headphones on owen and played music for him.  He ADORED it.  It kept him quiet and still for quite a while! :)

Way Past Due!!

So, we went to Nashville for vacation 2 months ago  ( i can't believe it's been that long!)    and I hadn't been able to load pictures until NOW!

First night we got there, we hung out with Mike & Ashley! We love them.  And I wish we would've taken way more pictures!! We can't wait to see them in a few weeks :)

School Time.

So, Mark & I have decided that Owen will be going to Growing Kids on Monday and Friday mornings.  It'll be great for him to have some friend time in the mornings, and i think he'll learn a lot from being around kiddos his age!  Plus, he'll get to see his cousin Luke more! :)

He'll start in a few weeks, and I figured, "I should probably start letting him feed himself more since he'll have to at school."  Not that I always sit and feed him , but if it's a messy messy food I usually spare myself the mess and just feed it to him.  SO, like I said, I'm letting him do it all by himself to prepare more for big boy class....

and let's just say, I hope they are ready for this....

I'm Excited!!

So, our good friend Derek Griffey took our family pictures this week!! Our yearly christmas time family pictures.  We took them in front of our inside christmas decor and outside with lots of snow!

We got them back yesterday, and i LOVE them!!  We ordered our cards with pictures on them and i'm super excited! Because I don't want to give the pictures away until AFTER people receive their cards, i won't post them all, but I'll give ONE sneak peak!

Snow Day

One thing we are NOT lacking in this week is SNOW!!!  And I'm loving it.  I've decided to stop complaining about it, and start thinking positive, and being thankful that I have a warm house to escape it!! ....And it's awesome.  I'm loving it!

Owen and I played out in the snow today.  This is the 1st time he's really been able to play in lots of snow  (snow in nashville is NEVER enough to play in!)

At first...he wasn't quite sure:

But pretty soon, he got used to it.  He had to taste test it first!

but then all was well, and he started playing hard!

Then he saw the mass amounts of snow on the deck and said "Clearly, I need to shovel this for my mom"

okay, not really....

...but he did try!

We had so much fun!! And we're hoping that next time, daddy will be home to play with us too! And we'll have a big snow ball fight!!!

One of my FAVORITE things about Christmas.

There are lots of things that are awesome about Christmas.  What's not to love?

However, one of my all time favorite things ever is plugging in my Christmas tree lights when it's still dark outside, drinking a big cup of coffee and sitting in the dark room except for the beautiful christmas tree lighting it up.  It really reminds me of my childhood for some reason.

Just thought i'd share!  My heart keeps getting more and more excited for Christmas time!
