testing of my patience

Owen has been testing my patience MAJORILY lately. People talk about "terrible twos" and my son is 15 months, and I so hope and pray that he is going through this "terrible" stage early. For quite some time now, he has starting hitting me. He will get angry, throw himself on the floor, grunt, shake his fists, and hit. Now, for those of you reading, you are probably floored because owen always acts sweet when you see him...well, that's the thing-he is soooo sweet when he is around anyone else. Its just at home with me and mark when he will preform these wonderful fits. I've been frusterated and wondering where he gets this!
A. Mark and I do not act that way
B. He doesn't watch television to see people act that way
C. He isn't hardly ever around other children who could maybe teach him to act that way.

In all of my frusteration, I'm trying to learn about him, and listen and be attentive to his needs. I realize that no one is perfect, we all have our little sticky areas in life, and I'm just trying to do the best I can with his.

As angry as I can become with how he is acting towards me lately, its times like right now, when he is sleeping and I can hear him lightly humming in his sleep that my heart melts for him. I love that boy more then I thought possible- good attitude or bad, he is perfect to me.

2 Years of Marriage!

For our two year anniversary we did a few things

1. on the actual day, we stayed home and had a nice dinner, and just relaxed!

2. A week later we went on a "mini-vaca" to new buffalo beach, while owen stayed with grandparents! It was so nice!

it was such a great time.  I'm so thankful for my husband and for 2 years of happy marriage!!!  :)

Garden Adventure

Mark and I decided we would grow a garden this year! It is our first time, and we planted most of them from scratch.  Here are a few pictures of progression, and i'm sure i'll post more once they are planted into the ground-which we are hoping to do THIS week!

So owen got weighed and measured today

He is 2ft 7inches tall (32.5)
He weighs 24.5lbs!

This puts him in the 90th percentile for height (tall baby)
This puts him in the 50th percentile for weight. (Not big or small-just right)


Here's a scary sidenote for you moms:
So I've been looking to join a gym with childcare that's close to my house. I don't mind the idea of going 3 days a week while owen plays with some kiddos for 30mins. So I was excited to hear about fitstop bc it is close to my home, verrryyyy affordable, 24hrs, and offers childcare doing certain hours. My sister informed me that she works in the childcare 2hrs a week and gets a free membership for her compensation! I thought, "wow-i could totally work 2hrs and do that too!". I then asked her the process she needed to go through to get "hired" and here's the kicker; NOTHING!!! No background check, no references, no drug test, no interview, NOTHING! You just have to be 18. So anyone in the area who wants a free membership can work in there..ANYBODY, child molestors?? Maybe.

Yikes spikes. I'm crossing fit stop off my list!

the oddest places

The moments that I get the time to update you on our lives always seems to occur in odd places or in wee hours of the night. This time, I sit in the mcdonalds playplace with a 5 year old I babysit and his buddy, Alex. Alex is 6- and the strange thing is, I used to watch him at daycare when he was two. Small small world.

Here's what's going on in our lives

1. Owen is getting teeth like crazy. I can't remember a time of his life (all 14 months of it) that I've had a harder time getting him to relax..he is in obvious pain. My heart breaks for the little dude during this time, and hopefully my hair won't start turning gray-because I feel like it should be. Wowie.

2. I have an interview this evening. I am currently working 40 hours a week doing nannying and odd babysitting, and I'm just constantly looking for better opprotunites in families and such. This specific interview is with a family living in south bend. I would be making the same money I do working 40hrs a week now, the only difference is that I'd be working 10 hours a week, so in short-id be getting paid much much better. I'm hoping this works out. :)

3.Pictues? No not yet. But man, when we are finally able to get a computer, the massive amount of photos I have to upload to catch you up on this HUGE dry spell of photo-less posts will make you dizzy. Prepare yourselves. :)

my 2nd mothers day

My first mothers day was bittersweet. It was really good and my husband did a great job spoling me, but we were in nashville, and I found it really hard being so far away, an overwhelming emotion.

This mothers day I woke up after 8, which is way sleeping in! Yay. When I woke up I said to mark, "all I want is some starbucks!!" Little did I know that when I opened up 2 mothers day cards a few minutes after, I'd open up a starbucks gift card! My boys know me so well. So of course I did the most practical thing, and immediatelty got in my car, pjs and all, and got some starbucks!! (Nonfat vanilla latte in case you are wondering..)
Along with the card came a promise to give me an hour of alone time a week, which may not sound like a lot to you..but oh trust me..its a lot for me, and I'm thrilled. Mark made me a yummy breakfast, and we took naps, played in the park,went out to dinner, and. Ate a yummy dessert. It was so relaxing and I truly feel so blessed by the men in my life.

Like I said, this is my 2nd mothers day. And along with all the sweet things and happiness, it isn't easy. Today two things happened with owen:
1. He got another tooth.
2. He moved up to a size 4 diaper.
Both things on mothers day..what a reminder that my "baby" really isn't slowing down at all..not even for mothers day. He is beautiful, and I can't believe how fast his life is just literally flying by.

Happy mothers day to all mommies, and to 3 very special mommies inparticular, my mommy, marks mommy, and my grandma! You guys are wonderful.
