The story of a mom with mush for brains.

Cora is 12 days old.  Mark has gone back to work.  And i'm trying to make it. ha.

Monday, i decided i would be brave and take both kids out by myself.  I got a text message that morning from chick-fil-a for a free 8 count nugget.  I thought, "perfect!  I'll take Owen for free lunch and he can play in the playplace afterwards."  Good thought.  After all, he needs out of this house almost as bad as me.

So, if your wondering how it went; this is how.

We drive to chick-fil-a quite successfully.  No melt downs or fits or flat out crying.  Wahoo! 1 point for me :)  Then, as I try to manage both babies into the restaurant  (which I'm not even supposed to lift anything heavier then cora...so i know i'm breaking a rule, BUT, i forgot the darn moby wrap at home...mush moment number 1).  So, back to juggling both babies.  I have my 2 year old, a huge diaper bag, and cora in her car seat, and i drop my cell phone onto the ground, and the battery pops out.  Great.  I have to let this thing load back up in order to show them the text message and get the free nuggets.  So, i'm standing in line, and because my blackberry is painnnfullly slow, I end up having to let about 5 people go ahead of me just so i can show this stinking text message.  my goodness.  (mush moment number 2.)  Then, I get up to the counter, and my phone isn't working.  So i'm literally standing there asking the cashier to hold on a second. Thank goodness she was patient.  THEN, it finally works, and i don't buy anything additional.  Just the free nuggets please.  I'm sure she probably rolled her eyes as i walked away.
We get through lunch okay.  No major problems.  Then, we go to let Owen play in the playplace.  We play for probably 15 minutes, and then it's time to go.  Owen throws a fit and doesn't want to leave.  Finally, i convince him to come with me.  He is not paying attention, and as we are walking out of the restaurant, he slams his head into a table.  oh my.  Starts screaming and crying.  I'm putting Cora down and trying to console him.  Everyone is staring, of course.  *finally* i get the boy to settle down.

So...we are walking out and 2 men see that i have my hands full, and they both grab a door and open it for me.  Then one tells me "your loosing a kid."  I look behind me, and sure enough, owen is way way back.  Distracted by something.  (mom of the year right here.)  So, i get owen to come with, mean while, these dudes are STILL holding the doors for me.  I'm sure at this point they are wishing they wouldn't of opened them in the first place.  So finally we are out the door, and I realize i don't have my keys. (Mush moment number 3) I left them on the table where i placed Cora's car seat so that I could kiss Owen when he ran into the table.  Back into chick-fil-a we go.  The man that held one of the doors for me says "did you forget something?"  And when I tell him, "yes, i forgot my keys, and i think i'm loosing my mind too" he went and grabbed my keys for me.  Thank goodness for nice people.

All this to say...i'm not *quite* adjusted to two kids yet.

I feel like most days i have mush for brains.

Our First Week.

Cora Rose is officially 1 week old today.  It's been *quite* the week.  Mark has been home with me, so i've had LOTS of help.  Even with his help, we've felt so overwhelmed with diapers and feedings for 2 kids.  Add that to not sleeping.  I'm pretty scared of what life will entail for me once he goes back to work, which may happen as soon as tomorrow.  Man oh man.
With that said, we've have had the most wonderful, generous, loving &supportive friends and family helping us.  We've have had dinners brought to us each and every night since we've been home from the hospital, which we've been eating off of for lunch too.  We've had grandparents come over to help with cleaning and laundry and Owen, and you name it.
I feel so over-whelmeingly  blessed.
I'm so happy to be around family this time around.  And after living in Nashville through basically Owen's first full year, i will NOT take this help for granted.

So, that said, it's been a LOT of adjusting.
It's also been a lot of smiles, snuggles, & beautiful times.

Thanking the Lord for my amazing family.

Happy Birthday, Cora Rose.

Friday night, at 9:02 pm, Cora Rose FINALLY made her entrance!
7lbs 6oz.  19.5 inches long.
Labor was 15 hours long.  And talk about crazy!  We were texting family and friend for prayers prayers and more prayers as Cora had a scary oxygen experience!  All turned out fine, and we are praising God for this new little girl.
She is BEAUTIFUL.
Much harder baby then Owen was, but still, overall, a happy baby, and so so sweet.

Blogging is probably going to be few and far between for me for a while.
At least until i get to sleep through the night again!

:)

Love you all.

thank you for your prayers and support.

so far

I ended my last blog with saying i'd have a baby the next time i blogged.

I lied.

ha.

we came into the hospital this evening at 5pm.  They checked me and i was 1.5cm and 80%effaced.  Midwife said baby's head was really low, which is a great thing.  So, they gave me cervidil, which is basically something to help my cervix start to get going!  Sometimes it jumps starts labor, and sometimes it doesn't.  So far, it hasn't.  I am having very very mild contractions.  Not much pain whatsoever with them, and they aren't consistent.  Just feeling tired.  The plan is to start pitocin in the morning.  It'd be a miracle if we didn't have to start pitocin, and if by morning, things had progressed enough.  But, we shall see.

Feeling blessed.  I know people are praying, and i'm really comforted by that.  Please keep praying. I have an awesome midwife named MaryAnne who will be delivering when the time comes (we're all assuming tomorrow afternoon-ish?)  and i've had 2 nurses who are both the sweetest ever.

Hoping for a good night's rest, so the "work" can begin tomorrow.

An update.

Tomorrow is induction day.

We had an appointment this morning to check things out, and didn't get the best news.
The tail end of this pregnancy (the last 6ish weeks more or less) has been semi disheartening.   We are ready to have this over-due baby, and to be done with being pregnant, that's for sure!  Feeling a little beat down, as we seem to get "not so good" news every week.

Anyways, i've been checked for dilation 2 weeks in a row now.  Last week they couldn't check because my cervix is not in the normal position, but instead is very posturer.  They tried again this week, and same thing.  They aren't very hopeful that it won't end in a c-section.  Prayers appreciated.

To top it all off, we also learned today that woodwind&brasswind  (where mark works) is closing it's doors on December 31st.

what a day.

We are hopeful.  We are trusting God to take care of and provide in both situations.
But, if you'd like to lift a prayer up for us in this big stress of a time for our family, we'd be truly grateful.

Love you all.
Next time I blog, i'll have a new baby.
